International Yoga Day & Setting Myself a New Challenge

International Yoga Day & Setting Myself a New Challenge

Yoga has played a huge role in my life this year, having dedicated a whole month to it completing my 200hr teacher training with YogaWorks (And honestly if I had the money, time and visa I would fly back to New York to do my 300hr later this year). The way yoga has influenced me both mentally and physically, and in all areas of my life, is incredible. I just wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation of this wonderful practice!

I feel best when I’m moving my body mindfully and frequently. Recently due to letting life get in the way, or even perhaps laziness and ‘inconvenience’, I’ve let all consistency in my practice fall away – I’ve got all of the excuses but no real reasons. My body feels stiff and lethargic and needs yoga.

To celebrate International Yoga Day (and to give myself the practice that my body and mind deserve) I have decided to challenge myself to a minimum of 15 minutes practice everyday for the next 4 weeks. This will be a challenge as I have a busy few weeks ahead (more exciting posts on this soon!), but I truly believe in self care and I know that setting aside this time will be a huge benefit to my well-being. I read in Shona Vertue’s book that it takes 28 days to form a habit, so I’m starting with this theory and with quality and consistency. I’ll report back in 4 weeks with an update on how it goes!

To keep myself in check and keep my practice varied and creative I’m going to upload a new picture or video onto my Instagram everyday which summarises the previous days’ practice. I’ll be using the hashtag ‘#jgyogachallenge’ so search this or follow my Instagram account! What does your practice look like? How do you hold yourself accountable to your regular yoga practice? I’d love to hear from you as always!

Happy Yoga-ing!

Where to next...?
